Treasure Island by: Robert Louis Stevenson (1883).

I am currently reading treasure Island seems to be a hands down disappointment. Its possible that I was really looking for a Hollywood feel. And I'm afraid that it did not pass the test. I kept waiting for sincere character development and for the characters to build real relationships. The connection between Long John Silver and Jim Hawkins was completely fabricated. At the very least exaggerated. There was absolutely no bonding that happened between them on the ship. Actually there there was hardly anything that happened on the ship ride to the island. For those familiar with the story they mention the disappearance of a crew member and mention that Long John is a suck up to all the members of the ship and the barrel of apples moment when Jim hears that Long John is going to start a mutiny. Its such a slow read and there's not a lot to pull you in. You would think Pirates equal epic. But I'm afraid that just isn't the case in this story. Though it is showing promise. Its super hard to get into so its taken me forever to get through it. Just picking it up now and agian to read a couple pages is making this take forever:) anywho~ I'm not finished yet but for now I might put my quest for reading all the "classics" to rest.
